QUICK ORANGE GLAZE

QUICK ORANGE GLAZE

This Quick Orange Glaze is wonderful on everything from quick bread, spice cake, and sweet loaf, to pastries. With all natural ingredients, this 3-ingredient glaze makes everything it’s drizzled on taste like you are biting into a fresh orange!
Prep Time: 5 MinTotal Time: 5 Min

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. With a zester, grate orange zest. Using a juicer or reamer, squeeze 3 tablespoons of fresh orange juice from the same orange.
  2. To a small bowl, add confectioners sugar (powdered sugar), and orange zest, and whisk to combine. Add ONLY 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed orange juice, and whisk well to combine (see Note #1).

Notes

  1. If the glaze is still too thick for your liking, add ½ tablespoon of orange juice at a time to the mixture, and whisk until smooth. Basically, use more or less juice to reach your desired consistency. If too thin, just add more sugar. For our Glazed Orange Cranberry Bread, we used all 3 tablespoons of orange juice. See our Blog Comments & Tips below for suggestions.
  2. If you are making a quick bread, try coating the bread with part of the glaze while the bread is still warm. This will allow the glaze to soak into the top layer to make it extra moist and tasty. If made with 3 tablespoons of juice, the final layer of glazing will be like an icing. Blog Comments & Tips

Delicious on quick bread, spice cake, and pastries!

We originally made this glaze for our Glazed Orange Cranberry Bread, but discovered it would be terrific on so many other things like quick bread, sweet loaf, spice cake, and pastries.

Making this 3-ingredient Quick Orange Glaze couldn’t be easier, and it’s finished in just a few minutes. There are no flavored extracts in this glaze. The true orange flavor comes from the natural fruit juice and zest of the orange. This glaze makes everything it’s drizzled on taste like you are biting into a fresh orange!

Try it on our Healthier Banana Bread; although it won’t exactly keep it healthy, it will add a sweet and fruity element to that already delicious banana bread.  It’s absolutely amazing on our Simple Chai Spice Cake!

Our 4 tips for making this quick glaze:

  1. If you want an extra smooth glaze with no lumps, sift your sugar.

  2. Use super fresh fruit. It will make all the difference in this recipe.

  3. For a thicker glaze that spreads on thick, start with less juice (about 1 tablespoon) and work your way up little by little to the exact consistency you want.

  4. For a thinner glaze, just add more powdered sugar. Do this 1 tablespoon at a time.

Don’t be surprised if you automatically grab a spoon and start eating it out of the bowl...it’s that tasty!

Pimp Our Recipe:

  • Make it Keto:  Replace the regular powdered sugar with Keto friendly powdered sweetener. Erythritol or Monk Fruit sweeteners have zero net carbs and better taste. With the small amount of fresh juice in this glaze, you are good to go with only 1.91 calories and 0.42 net carbs per serving!

Footnote: Use a super fresh orange for that big burst of flavor!
